In March, Elkin had the privilege of hosting the Friends of the Mountains-To-Sea Trail 40th Anniversary annual meeting. Through the efforts of many volunteers, including Dr. Bill Blackley, Bob Hillyer, Dee Neil, Denise Lyon, Joe Hicks, Laura Gaylord and Leslie Schlender, the town offered events and activities highlighting local history, talents, arts and venues.
