Two organizations that enrich Elkin and surrounding areas are the Foothills Arts Council and its associate member the Elkin Valley Fiddlers. Both organizations recently received grants from the Winston-Salem Foundation. The arts council’s grant of $2,400 will go toward a new music series held throughout the year called “Intermezzo.” The Elkin Valley Fiddlers received a $2,000 from the foundation to assist in its May 14, 2016, traditional roots music festival and contra dances throughout the year.
